Organic HTML

OrganicHTML (via MoFi) is a lovely idea – creating virtual plants based on the structure and content of a webpage. But the problem I have with it is that it doesn’t seem to look at the document stylesheets. Websites that use clean markup with little or no styling info in the document (like, er, this one, but also ones like MeFi, the BBC etc.) look dull and monochromatic, while ones that still use the color and bgcolor attributes inside tags (like Slashdot and Plastic) look pretty and multicolored. Which is a shame – something as cool as this would be an amazing way of representing the abstract technical detail of a stylesheet.

  1. I really like this! It’s such a neat idea. Shame about the stylesheets, but I guess it’s a good way of telling if you have a nicely written site! Boring plant = good site. Take amazon.com or play.com for example… beautiful flowers!
