‘Frank Spencer’ plays crucial part in own downfall
September 24th, 2003A charity worker has admitted impersonating comedy character Frank Spencer on police airwaves using an officer’s radio…he was caught after his car was stopped by police on suspicion of speeding and he said “Can I help you officer?” in a voice impersonating Frank Spencer.
A tale of caution to those thinking of breaking the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 - don’t carry on speaking in your silly voice when you’re actually face-to-face with a copper.
This act of criminal stupidity comes hot on the heels on one man caught giving a false name to police, as his real name was tattooed on his knuckles - in a story hilariously illustrated (As pointed out by NTK) by some BBC staffer’s hand covered in biro.
