Size of Wales

January 19th, 2005

Ack. Why didn’t I think of this? If you’re having trouble conveying the size of something enormous or heavy, then simply use the Size-of-Wales meter thingy (via Sore Eyes) to convert SI units into something more understandable for the lay public. All we need now is an inverse, to turn the size indescribably small things into number of times they can fit on a human hair or a pinhead.

    And, for medium-sized objects, a double-decker-bus-ometer. Or perhaps a Nelsons-Column-ometer …

For areas, how many football pitches. For very large areas, how many countries the size of Wales.

Woops. Think I got a bit confused there and used the wrong Wales. Try again…

“For areas, how many football pitches. For lengths, how many blue whales.”
