Pledge to refuse ID cards
June 18th, 2005Edinburgh is really muggy and hot at the moment - when I stepped out of the door this morning I thought “Blimey, it’s like Hong Kong - alright, Hong Kong on a cool dry day, but it’s still damn humid”. It feels weird, being so far north and with such clammy weather surrounding me. Alas, there are no storms predicted for a while…
As you can tell, I’m low on content at the moment (been busy moving house - always a time-consuming activity). But here’s one quick thing - I mentioned the other day about Pledgebank; many of you have probably seen it already, but I didn’t specifically mention was that there is a pledge to refuse to register for an ID card, and donate £10 to No2Id’s legal defence fund, if 10,000 people also pledge to do so. 3,500 people have already signed up, which is pretty good. If you have similar feelings, please join them.

The distribution of crooked people in government & government agencies is the same as anywhere else in society. Why therefore would anyone want to give them any more information (to sell, nick, or otherwise make money from) than they already have? At a cost of billions: recurring figure, on account of the system gets cracked every 6 months and needs upgrading.

Re your linklog post on flash anim - music is originally Gilbert and Sullivan (modern major general - Pirates of Penzance?) although I agree, it is also the Lehrer elements song.
